Plein Air Figure Painting - Anthony WatkinsDescription: Over the three days of the workshop Anthony will demonstrate and have a complete figure painting from the model in an outdoor setting. Anthony will share discuss his methods at each stage of the painting. Topics that will be covered are drawing, values, how sunlight affects color, how to see color and value as a unit, how to record the features of the model to create a likeness and how to see and understand direct light, ambient light and reflected light. Dates: Saturday & Sunday, July 19-20, 9 am - 4 pm Fees: $250 for Members, $295 for Nonmembers Related LinksInstructor Bio: Anthony Watkins was born near Richmond, Virginia and grew up on his grandfather's farm near Fredericksburg. He worked for a short time in military aircraft design before changing his focus to fine art. He studied painting with Lawrence Gluck, founder of Mission: Renaissance Art Schools in Los Angeles, CA, and with Yves Brayer at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and at the Ecole des Beaux-Art in Paris, France. Watkins specializes in paintings of people and places seen under striking conditions of light and color. He has painted on location nationwide and has made painting trips to many countries, including Great Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
