The Beauty of Still Life Drawing - Leah LopezDescription: Drawing from life is a time honored means for an artist to both study and explore the many creative possibilities yet it is also a beautiful form of art. The tools used are accessible and forgiving, and it is possible to quickly capture the intriguing quality of a moment or delve into a more thorough study of a subject. Good line quality in a drawing can eloquently express the characteristics that move the artist. The workshop strongly focuses on line quality from bold flowing lines to the more sensitive subtleties. Using thoughtfully designed still life arrangements, there will be demonstrations that simplify what the eye sees to focus on the essential information in the design, forms, light, shadow, sense of space, character and textural qualities of materials like fabric, glass, metal and porcelain, and then to convey the information in expressive line quality.
