Old Lyme Midsummer Festival: Friday-Saturday, July 25-26
Anything Goes Sale As part of the Old Lyme Midsummer Festival, LAA Artist Members are invited to submit their paintings for a special sale. Because this special sale of paintings will coincide with the Summer Painting & Sculpture & Hudson Valley Art Association exhibitions, display space is limited. Therefore, artwork for this sale will be received and displayed on a "first come" basis until sales display space is filled. Please limit your submissions to 3 paintings, no larger than 18" x 24". Paintings may be framed or un-framed. The LAA reserves the right to decline work after a certain point.
Animals and Artists! The Lyme Art Association is inviting artists from around the state of Connecticut to join in on the fun of painting, sketching, and sculpting domestic farm animals on Saturday, July 26. Old Lyme became an art colony in the early nineteen hundreds when artist Henry Ward Ranger discovered the area of Old Lyme as a wonderful place to paint. Soon after the word was out that Old Lyme was a painting destination, artists moved into Old Lyme calling it a "Painter's Paradise". One of the most common subjects for painters at the time was the domestic farm animals that were so plentiful in this area. Sheep, cows, horses, oxen, goats, chickens were all the included in these paintings that were so finely done. Not only did the early Lyme artists leave behind a wonderful collection of animal artworks, but they bequeathed to us a tradition of summertime fun; Artists and Animals! Join local artists as they paint the many farm animals available on the lawn of the LAA! Volunteers needed for Friday night & Saturday all day. Please contact Krissa at 860-434-7802 or Krissa@lymeartassociation.org. For more info on the Midsummer Festival, see www.oldlymemidsummerfestival.com. Downloads
