Paintings of Shoreline Connecticut and Marine Art To Highlight Lyme Art Association Sunlit Impressions Exhibition

The Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, CT will hold a special exhibition and sale of art entitled
“Sunlit Impressions: Art Along the Connecticut Shore” with an opening free to the public on Friday May 5, from 6-8 pm. The exhibition will be on view through July 8.

“Artists have been drawn to the beauty of shoreline Connecticut for more than 200 years,” notes Bob Potter, Executive Director of the Lyme Art Association. “ Artists of the Old Lyme Art Colony, established more than a century ago, painted scenes along the coastal shores and marshes, including maritime subjects. This was the inspiration for this juried show of works by our artist members.”

More than 200 works of art will be on view and for sale in Sunlit Impressions: Art Along The Connecticut Shore. Included in this exhibition is a special showing of works by Connecticut artists who are members of the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA). “We are delighted to have the opportunity to present works by Connecticut’s leading marine artists in this special exhibition in the Lyme Art Association ’s Goodman Gallery,” states Mr. Potter. “All of these works will be for sale, making this an important opportunity for collectors of contemporary marine art.”

Artists exhibiting in the “Connecticut Masters of Marine Art” include John Atwater, Del-Bourree Bach, Joanne Ballinger, Bob Blazek, Lou Bonamarte, Christopher Blossom, Jim Christley , Rodney L. Cole, Bill Hanson, Lisa Horrigan , Gerry Levey, Jim Magner, Len Mizerek, John Neff, Yves Parent, Charles Raskob Robinson, Ron Saporito, Jeffrey Sabol, Bob Weiss, Shirley Cean Youngs. Many of these artists are members of the Lyme Art Association.

The Lyme Art Association is pleased to have Essex Savings Bank and Essex Financial Services as the corporate sponsor for this exhibition. “The banks’ first President Henry Champlin was a shipmaster who in 1851 gathered 23 original corporators and formed the Bank. When I saw that this exhibition would include maritime paintings, I felt this was a perfect fit to assist the artists and remind the viewers that our bank continues to sail along in our effort to support the quality of life and relationships that are the core of our success,” states Gregory R. Shook, President & CEO.
