Annual Elected Artist Exhibition A Highlight of Fall Season At The Lyme Art Association |
|
| “Ever since the Lyme Art Association first opened its gallery in 1921, there has been an annual exhibition of Dawn To Dusk is an opportunity to showcase the quality of work by this esteemed group of artists who continue the legacy of representational fine art established by our earliest members who included such notable American Impressionist painters as Childe Hassam and Wllard Metcalf.” “The exhibition presents more than 120 works in pastel, watercolor, and sculpture,” notes Potter. “Subject matter for this show ranges from en plein-air landscapes that capture the special quality of light in Old Lyme that first attracted the American Impressionists, to still-lifes of exquisite detail and color, and figurative work of classical beauty.” “Currently, out of nearly 800 artists members of the Lyme Art Association , there are only 86 Elected Artists which makes this a unique and eagerly anticipated show for collectors and buyers of fine art,” added LAA Director Potter. “Another element of this exhibition is the presentation of work by our newest Elected Artists each of whom are nominated and voted on each year by the current Elected Artists . Becoming an Elected Artist of the Lyme Art Association is quite an honor and distinction for any artist and featuring their work is a highlight of this special event.” Complementing the exhibition is a special show on Charles A. Platt, an acclaimed artist and the architect of the Lyme Art Association Gallery. “Platt was truly a ‘Renaissance man’ in his command of so many artistic endeavors,” states Mr. Potter. “This exhibition not only shows his range of talents as a painter and etcher, but underscores the architectural and historic importance of the Lyme Art Association Gallery which he designed. Our Elected Artists represent the legacy of the first artists who created the Lyme Art Association and worked with Platt to build our historic gallery. So this is a great combined show for lovers of art and architecture.” |
