Lyme Art Association has over 700 Artist Members, but you don't have to be an artist to be a member. Anyone with an interest in the arts is welcome to join and enjoy year-round exhibitions, discounts on art classes, workshops, lectures, and other special events. All LAA members are encouraged to volunteer their support of the Gallery and take a role in the artistic, educational, and financial development of the Association. So whether you're an artist or art lover, we hope you will join one of America's oldest and most respected arts organizations.
If you have not been a member at LAA (or have allowed your membership to lapse), please join at Individual, Family, Contributing, Supporting, or Sustaining level. Both artists and non-artists join at these categories, and then artists may become Associate Artists or Elected Artists as described below:
To become an Associate Artist member, an applicant must have had art work accepted in four (4) different Lyme Art Association exhibitions and must have been an Individual Member for a minimum of two (2) years.
To become an Elected Artist of the LAA: you must be an Associate Artist Member who has exhibited a minimum of four works in LAA juried exhibitions within a two year period; submit a completed application form to the Screening Committee; submit six framed works if a painter, and three sculptures with pedestals as needed, if a sculptor. The Screening Committee reviews applicant’s work and selects candidates for consideration and displays their work prior to the Fall Membership Meeting for all LAA Elected Artists to vote on by sealed ballot. A two-thirds majority of those voting is necessary for approval. Written notice of results will be sent to the applicants.
